## Banned and disqualified persons

ASIC publishes 7,212 people as banned or disqualified. This is a **different register** from the advisers one, and the two are shown separately here.

**We do not match these names against advisers, and
neither should you on sight.** Names repeat. A namesake matched
automatically would be accused of something they did not do, so this site keeps
the two lists apart and leaves the judgement to you and to ASIC.

There is a second reason the lists differ. ASIC states that people banned
before 31 March 2015 who never returned to the advice industry are
**not on the advisers register at all** — they are only here. An
adviser missing from one list is not therefore clear on the other.
